This Website Is A 'Glass Act' Anacortes technology retailer redefines 'window shopping'
Anacortes, WA -- November 10th, 2006 -- CompuMatter, LLC today
announced its plans to unveil 'Multi-Media Glass' on their own storefront window.
This will take place at the time of their new retail store grand opening on
November 15th, 2006 at 5:30PM. Multi-Media Glass is an acrylic glass technology
that allows users to view digital video, websites and more upon their own retail
storefront window. They will be combining this product with 'Interactive Glass'
which allows websites that are displayed on the window to be touched and interacted
with by the user viewing it.
The inherent transparency of ordinary glass makes projecting an image upon
it impossible. Multi-Media Glass on the other hand, retains the majority of
its transparency but has a unique property embedded within it that contains
light cast upon it in the same way the light viewed in holograms are contained
within glass.
This science of this property, (explained in more detail at
www.compumatter.com/immglass/described.php) allows websites to be projected
upon it and viewed in daylight conditions using a simple mid-range video projector.
Interactive Glass
As if this technology wasn't impressive enough, CompuMatter has added a layer
of interactivity by embedding a transparent film which contains thousands of
hair-like wires woven within it, on the face of the Multi-Media Glass. These
hair-like wires pick up the slightest change in heat applied anywhere within
their grid. So when a human places their finger on the glass, the website reacts
in the same way a home computer does when a mouse is clicked.
A Sound Solution
The final piece of this interactive experience is a couple of cool little discs
that are designed for the specific purpose of turning a pane of glass into a
stereo speaker system. A single disc is mounted at the lower corners of the
glass and cause an ultra-sonic vibration that is picked up and transmitted by
the window. The sound is well, as clear as glass.
